Introduction

Water is considered as the most important resource on the face of the earth. There is indeed no life without water. In addition, water is a key element in the different aspects of development activities. Water scarcity is among the crucial issues faced by many Arab countries that lack water resources.Arab countries are witnessing a rapid growth in a number of areas, including economic and social development and population growth. In order to ensure water and meet their countries' needs, a number of states turned towards saline water irrigation and desalinization projects. In fact, this industry has today become one of the most important industries. Thus, this industry, including its economies, feasibility, operation and maintenance, were given importance along with the different environmental issues in order to limit the negative impact it may have on the different facets of the environment. It is expected that the conference on water irrigation in the Arab countries prepare the ground for experience sharing among the concerned parties in the Arab countries and open horizons for cooperation in research, in order for the Arab region to develop this technique and embrace it by finding the proper procedures and strategies. The conference will also present to the private sector the investment opportunities available in saline water irrigation.
